I QUIT MY JOB.

Hello, everyone.

It’s been a while. Many things have happened in my professional life, my personal life, and my otaku life, but needless to say, the largest thing that’s happened is:

I’M FINALLY QUITTING MY JOB.

No, I’m not leaving Japan. No, I didn’t pass the JLPT N1 to transition into the translation industry (I wish, haha). I found an awesome job where the people are cool, I can do things other than teaching (curriculum development, HR, etc.) and the pay is way better!

All of this is with the added bonus of me not needing to work for my current company any more. Which makes me a happy human.

I’m unable to talk about my current company right now as I’m still working there for the next few weeks (technically I finished my contract and they didn’t give me a new one to sign…so I’m in a very strange legal situation at the moment haha) and don’t want to ruffle any feathers just yet. However, expect a FULL report because the company I’m currently working for is quite large, very active on GaijinPot and is a rather large player in the English teaching industry in Japan, and yet there isn’t a whole lot of information available about them. When I got a job offer from them, I tried to do some research on them and found almost NOTHING.

I don’t regret anything, because I was able to build a life for myself here in Japan because of them. But people coming into Japan need to know what they’re getting into before they sign their lives away.

This intrepid writer intends to right this societal wrong, and advises you to look forward to a full report soon!
