There’s no easy way to say this, so I’m just going to come out and say it: anime writing is kind of terrible. Maybe it was good at one point, but these days it’s all swimsuit episodes, school festival episodes, and being trapped inside a computer game while you go on dates. I’ve heard that Gen Urobuchi used to do good work, but now he’s writing live-action shows all about magical fruit, what the hell is that? It’s shameful, the state of things. Sad, huh? Well, we here at Japanator have decided we’re not going to just sit back and take lousy-ass writing anymore: we’re going to pen some splendid tales of our favorite anime characters, and show anime writers how adults get things done. Our commitment to the cause is such that, from now on, Japanator will be ALL-FANFICTION, ALL-THE-TIME. We’re changing direction from whatever the hell it is we do now to becoming the internet’s No #1 destination for self-insertion fics about dating anime characters, or keeping them in your house as pets. I’m not a business type, but I’ve been told that this is what they call a “growth industry,” and we are nothing at Japanator if not business-savvy.
